I have been teaching for 36 years. I taught one year in Old Town and and 35 years here in Orrington. I started at CDS teaching middle school English, Reading and Social Studies in grades 7 and 8 for 4 years. Then I taught self contained fifth grade for 26 years, and this is now my fifth year in the middle school as an ELA teacher.
I live in Stockton Springs which is about 23 miles from here (a 30 minute drive one way.) I grew up there and graduated from Searsport District High School. I went to the University of Maine at Farmington and have also taken classes at UMO.
I like to spend time this working around the house, reading, sewing, watching movies, walking, and taking it easy. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a daughter Megan who is a children's librarian and a son Charlie who works for a cleaning service.
If you look around the room, Snoopy is “in the building.” When I was growing up, I was involved with a service organization called Rainbow. When you were the one in charge for a term, you had to have a theme/mascot. I chose Snoopy. Since then I have collected items on and off. Students have added greatly to my collection. I enjoyed the humor and philosophies that Charles Schultz put into the comic.
