5th Grade Field Trip to Fort Western
On Monday, June 6, we will be traveling to Fort Western in Augusta. We will leave CDS @8:15 am and will arrive in Augusta@ 10:00 am. We will be back in time for regular dismissal. If you are chaperoning, please be here @8:00.
Our class will be taking a workshop entitled “A Day in the Life of a Fort Western Soldier.” It will introduce historical cause and effect through participation in period drill and maneuvers. PTG is covering all entrance fees for students and chaperones.
Students should dress appropriately for the weather (SNEAKERS, pants/shorts, jackets, etc.) as we will go rain or shine. Students will also need a bag lunch (no glass bottles please) and probably a water bottle if it is hot. Remember to adjust next week's lunch money accordingly.
Students will also be allowed to bring electronics, books, etc., for the ride, as it is long. Students will be allowed to use their cell phones for games. NO calling or texting will be permitted. Phones will be turned off at Fort Western. Items are brought at the students’ own risk and remember to check the batteries.
Due to the number of students and chaperones, the bus will be crowded. We will need a few parents to take their cars. If you wish to take your car or car pool with someone else, that would be greatly appreciated. Your child, however, needs to ride the bus with us both ways.
Thanks,
Ms. Pardy, Ms. Seekins and Mr. Theriault
