FIELD TRIP NOTICE FOR OCTOBER 9
Field Trip Notice: (THIS NOTICE WAS SENT HOME ON WEDS., SEPT. 26)Grade 5 is off on its first field trip. We are going to be attending the 2018 Northern Maine Children’s Water Festival on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the University of Maine at Orono. We will leave school at 8:15 am and return at 2:45 pm.“The Northern Maine Children’s Water Festival promotes hands on learning about water issues. This one-day event brings together over 600 students and their teachers. Water resource professionals from Maine and New England provide presentations and activities about water, wetlands, human health and aquatic life; there are water trivia quiz shows hosted by local radio and television personalities, as well as activities using music and art. This experience is provided at no cost to the participants. In fact, the festival provides funding to help schools pay the cost of transportation. The festival goals are to teach students about the value of clean water and healthy habitats, and to provide teachers with materials and lessons that they can use for years to come.”
A second notice will be sent out closer to the day of the trip. We will ONLY need 2 chaperones per classroom for this trip. If you are able to chaperone, please let us know by emailing us as soon as possible. First come, first accepted. Remember if you are planning to chaperone you will need to update volunteer information. If you are chaperoning for the first time ever at CDS, you will need to complete a volunteer packet which is available in the office with MR. MUGNAI.
